11 – Rayne

I wasn’t going to let Gage slip away from me again. I went to take a shower and then returned to Gage’s room. When I arrived, he was in the shower. I made myself comfortable in bed and awaited his return.

The bathroom door popped open and out he walked. That body had my pussy walls clenching so hard I had to squeeze my thighs together.

“What are you doing here, Rayne?”

I had to tread carefully. He was still mad and he had a right to be. I didn’t expect that he’d forgive me easily. Moreover, I was married to Leroy and Gage did find us sleeping in this very room the other night. I supposed what just happened shouldn’t have happened so soon.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized, finding that I was feeling more emotional than I intended. Fresh tears threatened to surface again and I heard my voice crack. “I didn’t mean for anything to happen. It’s just that you holding me so close…”

“Why are you here?” he demanded while pulling on shorts and a t-shirt.

This was a bad idea. Gage’s aloofness hurt more than I could stand. We just had sex. Whether it was planned or not, it was a moment we should cherish. But I felt the rejection and saw the loathing in his eyes.

With a heavy heart, I sprang from the bed, my tears now flowing like a river overflowing its banks. All I wanted now was to really disappear from in front of Gage. Shame washed over me like iced water.

I was across the room and heading to the door when he grabbed me from behind and pulled me against his frame. I tried to wrangle free but he wouldn’t let me. I was now bawling like an idiot, unable to hold back the hiccups as well.

“Come,” his voice was soft as he pulled me back to sit on the bed. “Don’t cry.”

For the second time tonight, Gage was consoling me, holding me in his arms. My anguish was making me weak, that I could do nothing but bawl my sorrows away on his shoulders. When I had had enough, I straightened.

“Tell me what I need to do to bring that bastard to his knees.” I sniffed, loving the way Gage’s arms around me was making me feel secure. Brushing back my tears, I continued, “What will we do?”

He looked keenly at me before replying. “Push back.”

“How?’

“I need you to continue to be Leroy’s wife, for a little while longer.”

I pushed against him, searching his face for any iota of amusement. He was dead serious. “After I told you everything? After what happened?”

“What happened shouldn’t have happened.”

“But it did and you know why. We still love each other.”

“Regardless...”

“Anyway. I don’t want to be married to him another second.”

He sighed. “Think about it Rayne. To do all the things Leroy has done and gotten away with, he must have some strong connections in the police force. Your brother is in a high maximum security prison with no family member ever being contacted about an arrest.
